Chex Quest 3 is a free computer game released on September 6, 2008 which runs with the ZDoom source port. It was developed by Charles Jacobi, who was the art director and lead artist for Digital Café and worked on the original Chex Quest. Charles credits Mark Quinn aka "Boingo the Clown" for giving him the motivation to work on Chex Quest again. The completion of this project by the original author, after failed fan-created attempts and a ten-year wait, was a huge surprise and Chex Quest 3 was well-received, earning one of the 2008 Cacowards.
Chex Quest 3 contains slightly updated versions of the levels from Chex Quest (episode 1) and Chex Quest 2 (episode 2), in addition to its new levels. However, it is not compatible with mods created for the original Chex Quest as it modifies several actors, including changes to their editor numbers.
New content include several textures and sprites, new monsters, as well as the five new maps in episode 3.
All of the maps are in the Hexen map format, and the WAD contains ZDoom-style lumps: DECORATE, MAPINFO, SNDINFO, ANIMDEFS, TEXTCOLO, LOCKDEFS, and LANGUAGE; therefore Chex Quest 3 can only be played with a ZDoom-compatible source port.
Levels
Note that all of these links are to articles on the Chex Quest Wiki. Clicking on them will take you out of the Doom Wiki; if this is a problem, you are strongly advised to open them in new tabs.
Note also that many of them are links to the corresponding levels in Chex Quest or in Chex Quest 2, and may thus refer to problems which were fixed in the Chex Quest 3 release.

Cheat Codes
Instructions
To use a cheat code in Chex Quest, one simply types the code while playing (this also applies while in automap mode). After the last letter has been entered, a message of acknowledgment will appear at the top of the screen. The status bar and in-game view may also change, depending on the effects of the code. All of the codes for the original game work in all source ports, unless otherwise noted.
All codes are disabled in multiplayer games and in the Super Slimey skill level except for "sherrill" and "leesnyder".
Cheat codes
These are based on the Doom cheat codes, but changed to the names of members from Digital Café. The "idbehold#" cheat is, as a result, turned into several distinct cheats.
allen | Gives a slime-proof suit |
andrewbenson | Gives invulnerability |
charlesjacobi | No clipping (the player can walk through walls, characters, and obstacles, climb high ledges instantly, and pass through items and across all tagged linedefs with no effect). |
davidbrus | Sets health to 100% and makes player immune to damage ("god mode"). |
deanhyers | Gives a berserk |
digitalcafe | Gives a computer area map |
joelkoenigs | Gives and select the Super Bootspork. |
joshuastorms | Gives a Ultra Goggles |
kimhyers | Shows the player's coordinates and compass direction (note that these numbers are hexadecimal, and may require some practice to interpret quickly). |
leesnyderxy | Warps to level ExMy. Equivalent to Doom cheat "idclev". |
marybregi | Gives a blur sphere |
mikekoenigs | Gives weapons, ammo and armor. This is the same as the Doom cheat "idfa". |
scottholman | Gives weapons, ammo, armor and keys. This is the same as the Doom cheat "idkfa". |
sherrill | This cheat reveals information if used while in automap mode, showing additional data the second time it is used:
