DeuTex is an editor that is able to compile and decompile WAD files. Based on the Doom Editing Utilities (DEU), it was written in 1994 by Olivier Montanuy and originally ran in DOS. It was later ported to various UNIX systems, Linux, and Microsoft Windows (with a graphical front-end, WinTex). Originally maintained by Olivier Montanuy, it is currently maintained by André Majorel.

DeuTex will convert the format of a lump when extracting or building a WAD. Supported formats are .au, .voc, .wav, .bmp, .gif, and .ppm.

DeuSF is a smaller version of DeuTex that is used to merge sprites, flats, and textures from a PWAD into an existing IWAD in order to overcome limitations of the original Doom executables.

Vb DeuTex is a version of DeuTex designed for Microsoft Windows.

DeuTex is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
