Serpent Riders
D'Sparil | Korax | Eidolon

Korax is the second Serpent Rider and the final boss of Hexen. Not at all humanoid as D'Sparil is, he has six arms, red eyes, a demonic skeletal face, and a long tail. He has 5000 Hit Points.

Korax is extremely slow moving, to the point where he is essentially stationary. He can shoot six projectiles at once, one from each arm. These are the same projectiles fired by other enemies.

He also has the ability to manipulate the field around, such as causing floors to sink into lava, summoning fireball shooters, and even sending spikes rising from the ground!

After Korax has taken enough damage, he teleports away and sends waves of enemies against the player. The player must eliminate these, at which point the door at the end of hall will open where Korax awaits the player in a second hall.

In this, the second stage of the battle, Korax will also summon ghost versions of different monsters (Ettin, Centaur, Brown and Green Chaos Serpent), and teleport around both halls, making defeating him more difficult. Unlike D'Sparil, he can telefrag the player, but his teleportations follow a certain sequence making it possible for the player to predict where he is going to reappear.

When he dies, several spirits will burst out of Korax's stomach and roam around, and the exit portal leading to the end of the game will be open at the end of the second hall.

Korax also appears at the beginning of each hub, with the exception of the Winnowing Hall, (though he appears at the start of Seven Portals, the level after Winnowing Hall), where his visage will emerge from a wall of fire to taunt the player. His face will then fade from the wall, and the wall itself will vanish allowing the player to proceed into the hub itself.

Korax's name is derived from Corvus corax, the scientific name for the Common Raven. The c in "corax" is replaced with a k.
