MAP17: Bloodbath is the seventeenth level of Icarus: Alien Vanguard. It was designed by Mike Marcotte, and uses the music track "Slow Evil II" by Tom Mustaine.

  1. In the level's first room is a window in the northeast corner. After flipping all four switches at the start of the level, return to this window to find that you can now climb into it. In here, you will find a box of shells and a soul sphere. (sector 203) Note that if you pass through the teleporter before doing this, you will be unable to obtain this secret, as you cannot return to this room.
  2. After entering the first teleporter, stand at the edge of the first elevator, within activation range of the switch, close enough so you can trigger it without the elevator taking you down. Do so, and look to the northwest to find that a secret compartment has opened, containing a blur artifact and two boxes of ammo. (sector 253)
  3. At the first bend after the first elevator, face out into the marble room. After this, run to the top step of the stairway in that room as fast as you can, and drop into the hole. At the bottom is a teleporter; step into it to be taken to a new room with a pentagram carved in the floor, and a bloodfall. Behind the bloodfall is a blue skull key. Grab it, and head through the blue key door in the west to a new room where you can acquire a BFG 9000. (sector 100) Walk south across the platform to open the exit out of this room.
  4. In the southernmost marble room (where a pentagram appears when you obtain the chaingun there,) there is a small bloodfall in the southwest corner. Do a running jump from the top step of the stairway to this bloodfall, and then open the satyr head to the west to find combat armor. (sector 282) Note that jumping there is rather tricky, and it may take a few tries before you can pull it off consistently. This is easier to do if you straferun instead of running normally.
  5. In the southernmost, wooden corridor, there is a portion of the southern wall with a plank across the top. Open it to find another corridor with a berserk pack. (sector 132)
  6. The room accessible from the stairway in the blood pool contains two switches. The northeast one lowers a chainsaw at the east, with a closed eye behind it. Shoot the eye and a secret alcove will be revealed, containing a box of rockets and a computer map. (sector 168)
  7. In the same room, flip the southeast switch, and return to the blood pool as fast as you can. A compartment will have opened, revealing a plasma rifle; grab it before the compartment is closed off. (sector 162) If the compartment closes while you're inside of it, just press on the metal wall to leave.
