Changes between versions

Wasn't the rocket launcher available in solo mode at some point pre-1.9?  I seem to remember (with the slow-motion clarity that can only apply to one's own idiocy) practicing and practicing to learn how to snatch that thing up and whirl to fire at the nearby demon, which turned out to be fatal *slightly* more often to him than to me.    Ryan W 22:38, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Glitch in crushing floor secret (?)

Interestingly, if the player is 'crushed' by this floor without losing all health points, he will be 'ejected' from the sector (possibly becoming stuck) while still alive.

I tested this, but it didn't occur.  Astonishingly, it also did not occur in ZDoom with the default compatibility mode, which is where most of these news flashes originate — it might actually be a real event, albeit nondeterministic., if you're still watching, please make a demo if you can!    Ryan W 02:07, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, what the OP states is correct. There is a range of linetypes in Doom (one of which is used on the crusher in front of secret 7 on E2M4) that raise floor of the tagged sector(s) to 8 below the ceiling that cause crushing damage to anything in the affected sector.
It is possible for the player and any mobj with health to survive this if they have enough health and given that the sector doesn't reset, will become permanently stuck. Depending on the port used, you may also end up seeing the void as the camera clips through the floor/ceiling, given that the player is now in sector that is only 8 unit's high. This is probably what the op meant by "ejected". Verm, 9 March 2010
I agree, but the original edit didn't say this.  In the situation you describe, the player is definitely stuck, not "possibly", and the "ejection" is a port-specific optical illusion.  The inescapable gotcha is just one of many in the OEM levels, moreover, so I don't see why it needs to be announced in the header and not in the secrets section (where it was already described).    Ryan W 01:55, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

(S) on the map does not seem to match up with (S) in the text. Also, how do you open the door lables (S) on the map? 07:07, February 18, 2012 (UTC)
